Speaking of underselling, the coupon drops went from like a 5-10 coupon sheet every quarter or so to a 25-30 per sheet coupon drop twice a month. That didn't last long BK customers liked our fries not McD's there was serious customer backlash on that one. Other "budget McDonalds" shit they started to pull included, going to shoestring fries like Mcd's. Which lead to the quality of the Jr's to go down hill because we used less and our waste budget was absurdly low so we couldn't afford to toss anything out. with the 2 oz patty only being used for Whopper Jr's.
Every double we sold lost the store $.10 so the franchisees started bitching. At one point they decided to drop the double cheeseburger to $1 to match McD's price. When I started a small burger patty was 2.4 oz. They started going downhill when they decided to be "budget McDonalds". They figured out the oil thing relatively quick.
